The offensive operation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces “Vivaldi” is not yet complete as of early October. Soldiers of the Third Army Corps managed to liberate approximately 125–140 square kilometers of our territory in the Donetsk region.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Reuters, highly appreciating the results of the offensive. “Vivaldi is a very successful operation. It is not yet completed. As of today, approximately 125-140 square kilometers have been deoccupied,” the head of state said.

He clarified that our defenders could have started the assaults as early as 2025, but the command decided to postpone the start in order to better prepare everything.

” Our military wanted to start this operation a year ago, but it was not yet sufficiently prepared. Thank God, we decided to postpone it for a while and now we have good results and fewer losses,” the president said.

Over the past two or three months, he noted, the number of dead and wounded Russian occupiers has increased.

“Since the beginning of the year, their losses have been 30-32 thousand people per month (21-22 thousand dead, the rest seriously wounded). Now we are talking about 42 thousand losses per month. So, during the offensive, we lost several times fewer people than Russia, and they were on the defensive,” Zelenskyy said.

What preceded

As a result of Operation Vivaldi, the Ukrainian “exchange fund” was filled with over 250 soldiers of the aggressor state. This is the largest surrender of occupiers into captivity in the 12 years of the war.

“Vivaldi” demonstrated a new approach to offensive maneuvers in the conditions of modern warfare. According to Austrian military expert Markus Reisner, Ukrainian forces, thanks to careful preparation, were able to achieve significant tactical success even in the conditions of a “transparent battlefield” saturated with drones and electronic warfare equipment.

As OBOZ.UA wrote, Russian military bloggers are concerned that Ukraine’s Operation Vivaldi in the Lyman direction will hinder attempts to storm Sloviansk from the east. According to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War, this may indicate that the operation not only thwarted Russia’s plans to surround the fortress belt from the Lyman and Dobropillya directions, but also jeopardized its intentions to frontally storm the cities of the fortress belt in the north of Donetsk region.

  1. In 100 years Mariupol is liberated, maybe. An incompetent corrupt preZident and military leader$hip won’t move much, despite Ukraine’s true capabilities. I’m a faithful Christian, but i despise the Lord for creating/allowing so much evil. We could live in paradise, had evil and subhumans never existed. Instead we keep crawling through a pile of shit every day. 😤
