Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected Vladimir Putin’s proposed three-day truce for May 9 and is insisting on a 30-day ceasefire.
Speaking to reporters, the president said he “does not want to play with Putin’s proposed short truces.” According to him, the 30-day truce model is the most optimal, since it is impossible to agree on anything in a few days.
He also added that “Ukraine cannot guarantee the safety of world leaders in Moscow on May 9.”
“I agree with Trump that a 30-day ceasefire with Russia is the right first step,” the president said.
He also noted that if a decision is made to cease fire for a month, the issue of monitoring must be resolved quickly.
