Zaluzhny may announce this as early as the beginning of January.
Former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhny , who currently serves as Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, is preparing to leave his post in early January, Radio NV reports , citing its sources.
According to the publication’s sources, Zaluzhnyy voiced his desire to resign to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy several weeks ago while in Kyiv.
According to sources, Zaluzhny and Zelensky discussed various positions, from prime minister to head of the Presidential Office, but Zaluzhny showed no interest at the time.

Other sources noted that Zaluzhny had been considering the post of ambassador to the United States or commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for some time, but no decisions have been made on this matter yet, and there are no ongoing discussions about replacing the ambassador to the United States.
“Zaluzhny likely wants to return to Kyiv; he could announce this as early as January 4-5 next year if nothing else influences his decision,” one source told the publication.
As a reminder, Valeriy Zaluzhny was dismissed from his post as Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on February 8, 2024, and three months later, on May 9, he was appointed as Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
