With heavy hearts, we say farewell to World War II legend John Gleeson, who passed away peacefully at the age of 102, at home and surrounded by family — a gentle ending to a life of heroic service.

During World War II, John served as a pilot in the Army Air Force, flying the B-24 Liberator on long, dangerous missions deep into contested skies.

High above the earth, in unpressurized aircraft where the air was thin and the cold was relentless, he and his crew faced flak bursts and intercepting fighters — knowing that each mission could be their last.

John Gleeson belonged to a generation that did not ask to be remembered. They simply did what was required, carrying the weight of war so that others might live beyond it.

Today, we remember him with gratitude, with respect, and with the understanding that courage does not always announce itself — sometimes, it simply endures.God bless this hero forever.
