President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about Ukraine’s progress in joint weapons production with European partners. According to him, a number of countries are already actively participating in the co-production of Ukrainian defense technologies, and negotiations are underway with others and terms of joint work are being agreed.
The move is aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and integrating its defense industry into European supply chains, he said on Friday, answering questions from journalists.
The President noted that Ukraine already has a joint production of drones and other military equipment with several European countries.
“We are moving quickly enough, we are already producing drones together with Germany, drones with Britain, with Denmark, with the Netherlands. We are starting this work with Norway, we have reached an agreement with Sweden, with France,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that clear co-production deadlines have already been agreed with the French side by the end of the year.
In addition, Ukraine has signed letters of intent for joint production with several other countries.
“We also signed relevant documents of intent in Romania the last time I had a visit. And several other countries also have relevant documents with us. And Spain, we are moving to co-production there in some areas,” the president added.
Recall that in the past few weeks, 11 countries have asked Ukraine for assistance in protecting against drones. More than 200 Ukrainian military specialists are already working in the Middle East, protecting partners from Iranian UAVs. In exchange, Kyiv expects concrete steps from its partners.
