The situation on the southern front remains tense, but without any drastic changes. One of the features of the fighting in the steppe zone is a wider “kill zone” than on other fronts.
Every day, the parties use air strikes, drones, and robotic complexes, which significantly complicates defense, said Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces.
According to Voloshyn, the largest number of collisions over the past 24 hours were recorded in the Hulyaipil direction – 36 out of 50 cases.
The enemy also tried to storm Ukrainian positions near Bilogirye and north of Hulyaipol – in Dobropillya and Pryluky, making attempts to infiltrate deep into the defenses.
The spokesman noted that enemy kamikaze drones are causing fewer strikes, but airstrikes are increasing: over the past day, more than 20 airstrikes using 70 precision-guided bombs have been recorded.
In addition, the parties are actively using drones and ground robotic complexes: the enemy uses up to 2,000 FPV drones, 150–200 loitering munitions and 200–250 UAVs for reconnaissance, as well as robotic platforms for logistics and evacuation of the wounded.
Voloshyn explained that in the steppe zone, the line of combat contact is over 100 km long, so the enemy cannot bypass the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine unnoticed. Because of this, he is more actively using electronic warfare systems.
“One of the biggest features of the war in the steppe is that the “kill zone” (a section of terrain that is under dense, crossfire – ed.) in our country is much wider than where the terrain is average. Today, this so-called “kill zone”, that is, the strip from the line of combat contact, in which damage is inflicted on everything that moves, so to speak, in our country it already reaches approximately 15, or even 20 km from the line of combat contact,” he said.

As a reminder, the front line in southern Ukraine remains tense, but no significant changes in the combat situation have been recorded so far. The most intense fighting continues in the Hulyaipil direction, where about fifteen clashes between Ukrainian defenders and Russian troops have occurred over the past day. The overall situation on the southern section of the front remains difficult.
OBOZ.UA previously reported that the Russian army has concentrated significant forces of several armies in the southern direction, trying to advance deep into the Ukrainian defense. At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting active maneuver operations.
