US prepares nearly $300 mln military aid package for Ukraine

The United States is preparing a military aid package for Ukraine worth nearly $300 million, set to be allocated tomorrow, according to AP News.

“The United States is expected to announce an additional $275 million in military aid for Ukraine on Friday,” writes the agency.

This will be the fourth tranche of military aid to Ukraine since Congress passed the foreign aid bill for Ukraine late last month.

According to the agency, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) need this aid to deter the Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region.

American officials informed journalists that the package would include High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and 155mm and 105mm artillery shells.

Aid from the USA

Ukraine began receiving military aid from the United States recently after months of Congress being unable to vote on the aid bill for Kyiv.

Meanwhile, the Institute for the Study of War believes that Russia was forced to start a renewed offensive in Ukraine earlier than planned due to the resumption of aid from the USA.

  1. Trump Tells Putin to Keep Wall Street Journal Reporter Hostage Through Election

Evan Gershkovich, the Wall Street Journal reporter, has been held prisoner in Russia for more than a year. Donald Trump, characteristically, has never criticized Russia for arresting him.

Last month, Trump stated (in response to prodding by a Time interviewer) that he hopes Russia will release Gershkovich. Trump insisted it would not happen unless he is elected: “And here’s a difference between me and Biden: I’ll get him released. He’ll be released. Putin is going to release him.”

In a post on his social-media account, Trump reiterated that Putin will only release Gershkovich after Trump wins the election:

Unlike most of Trump’s boasts, this one may be true, but not in a way that reflects well on him. Perhaps he’s right that Putin “will do that for me, but not for anyone else.” But that is because Putin rightly considers Trump an ally in whose success he is invested.,

What’s worse is that, by openly signaling to Putin that he does not want Gershkovich to be freed before the election, he is destroying whatever chances may exist to secure his release before then. If Gershkovich goes free prior to the election, Trump would look foolish, and Trump understands perfectly well Putin does not want that to happen.

  2. 300 millions are not a small sum, but in the context kf a 61 billikn dollar bill only spare change. How does the Biden government want to spend the whole amount if they prepare such a snall package every weeks? Do the multiplication yourself, this will only result in a quarter of the allocated money being spend! Also, 300 millions probably ain’t even enough to buy a single Patriot battery. This small potatos support, after six long months of no contributions at all? What’s this nonsense about then, do Biden and his yes-men believe this will impress anyone except the most naive people? Grrr. 😠
