The Pentagon has signed a record-breaking contract with Lockheed Martin for the amount of USD 4.7 billion for the accelerated production of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
This was reported by the official portal of the arms manufacturer Lockheed Martin.
It is reported that the contract to improve and accelerate the production of the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3 MSE) missile was signed after a seven-year agreement with the US Department of Defense to more than triple annual production.
It is noted that the PAC-3 MSE is used in the main system for intercepting long- and medium-range missiles of the US Army and is the basis of the air defense of Washington and its allies.
Supplies of the PAC-3 MSE, on which Ukraine relies to protect its energy and military infrastructure from ballistic missiles, have become significantly limited after intensive use in the Persian Gulf against Iranian strikes.
Meanwhile, as Ukrainian News Agency reported, Ukraine has received another batch of interceptor missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this during a conversation with journalists.
