The Ukrainian defense company Fire Point is developing its own FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles. They could become a cheaper, mass-produced alternative to the American ATACMS from Lockheed Martin.
As of now, the FP-7 has already completed testing, and the FP-9 is preparing for testing. Chief designer and co-founder of the company, Denis Shtilerman, spoke about this in an interview with Army TV.
What is known about Ukrainian ballistics?
According to Shtilerman, the key idea behind the development is to make the ballistic missile as cheap as possible in order to produce it in large quantities.
He reported that the FP-7 missile is capable of hitting targets at ranges of several hundred kilometers and has already been tested. Meanwhile, the FP-9 will have a range of up to 800 km and is currently being prepared for testing.
“It will be similar to the ATACMS, possibly even with a larger warhead. But it will cost at least half as much,” the designer noted.

The missiles are planned to be launched from mobile launchers disguised as ordinary trucks to make them difficult to detect. According to the developers, deployment of the system could take about 15 minutes.
As OBOZ.UA reported, all Flamingo missiles launched at the Votkinsk plant in the Udmurt Republic (Russia) reached their target. The successful operation confirms the high quality and precision of Ukrainian-made weapons, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Knowing the Ukrainians, they will be successful in this endeavor, but only if they have the funds for it.
