Germany is consistently working on expanding the air defense system in Ukraine, says the German ambassador.

In May, Ukraine will receive another newest Iris-T air defense system . This was announced by the German ambassador in Kyiv, Martin Jaeger, on the air of the telethon.

According to him, Germany’s support will develop in accordance with Ukraine’s needs. “We now see the greatest need for air defense. Look at the energy system, at the energy supply, which was severely affected. We are now helping to restore the energy infrastructure in particular, in view of the winter,” he said.

As the ambassador noted, if Ukraine does not have a sufficient number of air defense means, it will be very difficult to repel future attacks.

“That’s why we decided to do even more than before in the air defense sector. Today we already have two Patriot systems in the country, and we will bring one more, a third system here. It’s not easy for us, because we have our responsibilities in NATO. And this will mean that 25% of our Patriots will be in Ukraine,” Yeger noted.

According to him, “there is no other such country in the world that gives so much.” “However, in addition to the Patriot systems, there is also the Iris-T system. There are already some systems here, and now, in May, another system will arrive. In addition, we promised Ukraine that this year, next year and again in 2026 to supply new such systems,” the diplomat said.

Thus, he noted, Germany is consistently working on expanding the air defense system in Ukraine.

“Also, we brought here the Cheetahs and a brand new system that was just developed in Germany. It’s called Skynex, and it does about the same as the Gepard, but even better. And that system will be used here as well.” , – Yeger said.

The ambassador concluded that Germany believes that Ukraine needs even more air defense systems, so the country has launched a major diplomatic initiative, where it appeals to other countries to provide our country with additional air defense systems.

  1. Germany really is an important partner for Ukraine, but I don’t especially like the bragging “there is no other such country in the world that gives so much.” Measured as percentage of GDP, some smaller countries are doing more. Anyway, i hope the speedy delivery of another Iris-T system means that thecproduction capacities have been increased. For the foreseeable future, even after the war, the demand will be high. No country wants to become victim of RuSSian missiles. 🤨

    • My hope is that there will be no more mafia land after it loses the war, and so the need for any types of weapons will not be such a priority.
