Ukraine’s Defense Forces have damaged critical infrastructure at the Kirishi oil refinery in russia’s Leningrad region, according to updated information released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Refined assessments confirm that primary crude processing units ELOU-AVT-2 and ELOU-AVT-6 were hit.
Additional damage was recorded to bitumen production facilities, hydroprocessing systems, and gas fractionation units, all of which are essential for producing a wide range of petroleum products.
The strike occurred overnight on March 26. According to available reports, fires broke out across the facility, with key processing installations and at least two storage tanks igniting.
The Kirishi refinery is one of russia’s largest, with an annual processing capacity of approximately 20–21 million tons of crude oil. It accounts for more than 6 percent of the country`s total refining output and serves as a major hub for fuel distribution, supplying petroleum products via pipeline to export terminals in Ust-Luga and Primorsk.
Part of the refinery’s output is used to meet the fuel requirements of the russian military, underscoring its operational significance.
As noted by the General Staff, Ukraine continues systematic strikes aimed at weakening russia’s military-economic potential and limiting its ability to supply its forces.
