Ukraine’s Defense Forces have intensified strikes on Russian military targets in occupied territories to disrupt Moscow’s planned spring-summer offensive, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported on March 14.
Ukraine is increasing its medium-range strike capability, improving its ability to counter Russian missile attacks, degrade Russia’s air defenses, and disrupt Moscow’s planned offensive operations in spring and summer 2026, the analysts said.
During the night of March 14, Ukrainian forces struck several Russian military targets at medium range both inside Russia and in occupied parts of Ukraine. ISW noted that medium-range strikes typically target sites about 20–120 kilometers (12–75 miles) from the front line, though Ukrainian forces struck deeper inside Russian territory.
The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces and Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces reported that Ukrainian troops struck an Iskander-M ballistic missile launcher preparing to fire missiles at Ukraine from occupied Vyshneve — about 209 kilometers (130 miles) from the front line — as well as a storage site for Iskander missile launchers near occupied Kurortne in Crimea, roughly 217 kilometers (135 miles) from the front line.
The General Staff also reported a strike on a Russian Nebo-U radar station near occupied Hvardiiske in Crimea, approximately 198 kilometers (123 miles) from the front line.
Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces said on March 13 that drone operators struck five Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense systems near Belgorod, roughly 30 kilometers (19 miles) from the front line.
Ukrainian forces also struck:
- a depot for S-300 surface-to-air missile systems near occupied Sadove in Donetsk Oblast, about 80–85 kilometers (50–53 miles) from the front line;
- a command post of Russian unmanned systems forces near Vuhlehirske, roughly 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the front line;
- command and observation posts in Hrafske and Kermenchyk.
Ukrainian forces also reported strikes on a Russian repair center and supply depot near occupied Andriivka, as well as a troop concentration near Novomykolaivka in Zaporizhzhya Oblast. Ukrainian forces also struck a Russian logistics and equipment depot near Berdyansk.
ISW analysts said Ukrainian forces are intensifying their medium-range strike campaign, targeting logistics hubs, military equipment and enemy troops.
Such attacks could complicate Russia’s preparations for its planned spring-summer offensive, as most of the strikes target Russian forces in eastern and southern Ukraine — the sectors where Russian troops have concentrated their main offensive efforts in recent weeks.
Ukrainian forces have also increased strikes on Russian multiple-launch rocket systems in the Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka sectors. Analysts say this could weaken Russia’s ability to conduct artillery preparation ahead of planned ground operations in those areas.
Please help us continue fighting Russian propaganda.
Truth can be hard to tell from fiction these days. Every viewpoint has its audience of backers and supporters, no matter how absurd.
If conscious disinformation is reinforced by state propaganda apparatus and budget, its outcomes may become deadly.
There is no solution to this, other than independent, honest, and accurate reporting.
