Members of US President Donald Trump’s team believe that Ukraine can still win the war against Russia, according to Trump’s nominee for commander of US forces in Europe, Lieutenant General Alexus Grynkewich, as reported by The Guardian.

“I think Ukraine can win. I think any time your own homeland is threatened, you fight with a tenacity that’s difficult for us to conceive of,” he said during a Senate hearing on his nomination.

Who is Grynkewich?

Recently, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that President Trump had nominated a new candidate for the position of Supreme Allied Commander Europe. Trump’s choice is US Air Force Lieutenant General Alexus J. Grynkewich, who currently serves as Director of Operations (J-3) for the Joint Staff at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.

In addition to the NATO position, the lieutenant general will also be appointed commander of US European Command.

For context, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently stated that the United States does not plan to withdraw from NATO. However, he demanded that Alliance members increase their defense spending to 5% of GDP — significantly more than what Washington currently spends.

Additionally, media reports have indicated that President Donald Trump’s administration is considering withdrawing part of the 100,000-strong US military presence in Europe or relocating some of the forces. The Telegraph specifically reported plans to withdraw 35,000 US troops from Germany and redeploy them to Eastern Europe, including Hungary.

  1. The article references a DT article from March of this year:

“US President Donald Trump is considering withdrawing about 35,000 American soldiers from Germany and relocating them to Hungary, a country with close ties to Russia. Such a move could further strain US-Europe relations, which are already under pressure due to various security and defense issues.

According to The Telegraph, sources close to the White House administration say that Trump is increasingly frustrated with Europe, claiming the continent is “pushing for war.”

I wonder if this new General agrees with deploying to Hungary; a mortal enemy of Ukraine?
    What is the purpose?
There is no fascist toad in the world that Krasnov idolises more than OrbanaZi. Except of course putler.

    • Many servicemen have their lives in the Rhineland area. Moving 30k troops to a shithole like Hungary will not happen without resistance. Shall we move our HQ from Wiesbaden to Budapest??? Moving some troops to the Baltic States would make more sense to me.

      • It’s likely that a decent president like John McCain would have deployed them all to Ukraine in 2014 and none of this shit would have happened because he would have put a coalition together as the Bushes did twice in Iraq.
What a tragedy that McCain and Romney were both defeated by Obama!
