30.03.2026

In Togliatti, Samara Oblast, Russia, numerous explosions were heard on the night of March 30. Local residents noticed a fire in one of the city’s districts.

The Russians claim that the KuibyshevAzot chemical plant, which is important for the aggressor state, was under attack. Footage from the city was collected by the Telegram channel Exilenova+.

What is known

The explosions in Tolyatti, which “shook the windows,” began at about 3:20 a.m. At that time, a threat of drone attacks was declared in the region, and the “Carpet” plan was introduced at the Kurumoch airport.

Some propaganda resources write about five or six to eight explosions, while local media claim that “dozens of loud bangs” were heard.

Judging by reports of “flashes in the sky,” Russian air defenses managed to shoot down some of the drones. Some, however, appear to have landed.

“After some time, a fire was noticed in one of the districts of the city,” one of the messages in Russian public forums states.

Exilenova+ suggested that the target of the attack was a strategic plant located in Tolyatti.

“Locals write that the KuibyshevAzot chemical plant is under attack,” the message states.

Exilenova+ added that this is the second attack this month on this chemical plant.

Falcon Insight geolocated the footage and confirmed that this particular enterprise was on fire.

“Togliatti, Samara region, Russian Federation. PJSC “KuibyshevAzot”. РОВ: 53°33’27.41 “N 49°28’58.54 “E “, the channel wrote.

KuibyshevAzot is one of the largest chemical industry enterprises in Russia. The plant’s main products are caprolactam, polyamide-6, technical thread, ammonium nitrate, urea, ammonium sulfate, ammonia, and weak nitric acid.

It is one of the main producers of nitrogen fertilizers in the Russian Federation, as well as the only producer of high-viscosity polyamide and high-strength technical thread in Russia.

KuibyshevAzot is important for both the industrial and defense sectors of the aggressor state.

“Chemical enterprises involved in the production of explosives for weapons, in particular missiles, are being taken out,” Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, wrote after one of the previous attacks on this plant.

The plant supplies critical second and third level raw materials, without which the military-industrial complex would grind to a halt. As a major producer of ammonium nitrate and nitric acid, the company is part of the raw material chain for the production of industrial and military explosives.

In September 2023, the Togliatti enterprise “Kuibyshevazot” opened a granulation and evaporation plant for ammonium nitrate. It is stated that it has the largest unit design capacity at the time of launch of 2,300 tons per day. The project cost 5 billion rubles.

As OBOZ.UA wrote, the previous time KuibyshevAzot was attacked was on March 11. Then a large-scale fire broke out at the enterprise.

And on March 21, drones hit another chemical plant in the same city, TogliattiAzot. It also burned quite brightly after the attacks.
