There will be no «energy ceasefire» — and there were no genuine plans for one. Russia is simply waiting for the most convenient and painful moment to strike.

This was effectively confirmed by Putin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, who claimed that Russia had agreed to President Trump’s request to observe an “energy ceasefire” until February 1 — in other words, for just two days.

We all know that early February will bring another wave of extreme cold to Ukraine — temperatures dropping to –20°C (–4°F).

In reality, Russia staged a performance for Trump’s audience: pretending to be responsive and open to dialogue, while never abandoning its plans to attack Ukraine. The fact that the so-called “ceasefire” was timed to end exactly as the coldest days begin is not a coincidence — it is the strategy.

Secondly, nothing has changed in the conditions in which Russia operates.
No new #energysanctions. No new battlefield defeats. No meaningful new pressure.
Nothing that would make Putin suddenly choose restraint.

P.S. Ukrainians are already literally freezing in their homes. This is not the time for diplomatic maneuvering. Russia has crossed every line of humanity — killing civilians daily and using cold as a weapon. The most vulnerable suffer first: elderly people, mothers with children, people with disabilities — those who cannot protect themselves.

Once again, this proves that the key to ending this war lies in the Kremlin. The United States has the power to influence Russia. The question is whether that power will be used with the urgency this moment demands.

About

I’m a member of the Ukrainian parliament, elected in 2019. I’ve authored a number of legislative initiatives and am the primary author of 22 bills, of which 7 have been enacted into law. One of the bills I was involved with in the Verkhovna Rada addressed amendments to the Constitution concerning the restriction of parliamentary impunity. I also contributed to bill №2237, which introduced modifications to the Criminal Procedure Code, enabling a streamlined procedure for the investigation and accountability of members of Parliament. This particular law was approved by the President in December 2019.

Prior to my legislative career, I had extensive experience in the business sector, specializing in sociological and marketing research, as well as in the development of strategic documents and reform projects. Till 2019, I owned a sociological company, with a focus on quantitative and qualitative research, the development of state reforms, and strategies for both state stakeholders and major international donors. In addition to that I serve as the Secretary of the National Investment Council of Ukraine and hold the position of Сhair at the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada, focusing on the protection of investor rights and improving investment climate in Ukraine. I aim for a corruption-free Ukraine, leading the NABU Public Oversight Council in 2018 and contributing to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s team on anti-corruption policy and digital solutions in 2019. In 2017, I co-initiated the “Initiative for Real Actions” movement advocating for the restriction of parliamentary impunity. That same year, as leader of the “Anti-Corruption Headquarters” NGO, we launched a chatbot to streamline the e-declaration process for state officials, addressing gaps in guidance from the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC).

At the very first day of the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine on February 24th 2022, I launched the initiative “Prykhystok / Shalter” (https://prykhystok.gov.ua) to provide Ukrainian refugees with free of sharge shelters in Ukraine and abroad. Since the invasion, the initiative have assisted in finding free housing for over 1 million of Ukrainian refugees. I earned my Master’s in Sociology from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and also completed my Master’s in Law from the Taras Shevchenko National University.

My core objective is to enhance democracy, governance, and transparency in Ukraine while focusing on reducing corruption and boosting business and investment opportunities.

One reason they are employing the fictitious cease fire is that they ran out of Ammunition that is very short supply, and have figured to utilize their missle shortages as a perfect situation to buy time as they resupply these shortages . So this is simply a PRETEXT to resupply and get their factories to build up over the period.

The problem with Russia is that RUSSIA has LITTERLY GAMBLED AWAY 100 Percent of its TRUST FACTOR. TRUST IS LIKE A CURRENCY; in fact it is BEST VIRTUAL CURRENCY and People have since the beginning of times RELIED ON TRUST and have EXCHANGED their TRANSACTIONS based on NON -BROKEN TRUST.

RUSSIA has chosen a path of THROWING AWAY ANY OUNCE OF TRUST.. IT HAS NOW BEEN RECORDED IN MODERN HISTORY . This UNTRUSTWORTHY STATUS RUSSIA HAD ACHIEVED BY THEMSELVES IN PLAINE AND OPEN SIGHT in today’s Modern History.

I have zero respect to all political leders in the EU or USA who asked Ukraine to destroy weapons and nuclear balistic rockets in 1990S, and now all of them are witnesses of CRIME/ THE GENOCIDE OF UKRAINIANS….

The best way to end up it / is to give 350 billionsUSD to all Ukrainians in Ukraine and outside, and bring the russian alite as well their kids/ lavrov, pyeskov, putin to the frontline and ask. russia to go back to the map of 1919 of the territorial map conditions.

All Ukrainians will have the best country in th world and ask the EU to clean our soil from the weapons and russia with the USA should pay the REPARATIONS TO EACH UKRAINIAN.

I agree you are 100% correct. The way you can tell Putin is lying…is when he opens his mouth! My heart goes out to the resilient people of the Ukraine. And I know the genocide from the hands of Putin must weigh very heavily on President Zelensky’s mind,

PLEASE stand united with him for you have a real President unlike America.

No, the USA has absolutely no power or intention to stop the war. That has been very clear since Trump got in office. Before they were holding back with the support they are absolutely obliged to give, since they promised to assist Ukraine’s sovereignity in Budapest 1994 where Clinton persuaded Ukraine to give up its nukes.

It is now really the time for the Coalition of the willing to fire up the engines of all fighter jets and send them up in the skies this weekend and closing the air once and for all. Making the alliance closing the airspace the Ukrainians kan chase the bombers also over Russian territory. Risky indeed but inevitably the only tactic that will further end the attacks…

Any and all Russian “cease-fires” and “negotiations” are stalling tactics to rearm, regroup, and renew attacks.

You are 100% correct in all you said. The only thing I would add to further demonstrate the insincerity and deceptiveness of this “cease fire” is that it is not only for just two day, but it is exclusively on “energy” meaning power plants, transformer stations and such. Russia in the past 48 hours has massively increased attacks on logisitcs and transportation, including pasenger trains and busses. So while stopping of attacks on “energy” may be a let up on pushing Kyiv and other cities further into the cold and dark, Russia is depriving them now of food and other needed resources traveling over rail and highway. And it is now directly killing civilians who venture onto trains and buses.

There will be no peace in Ukraine with trump in the WH. Forget about it. putin won’t stop until he is stopped. trump will never stop him. trump won’t stop until he is stopped. That’s how peace in Ukraine will be established. Stop trump first, then stop putin.
