The US’s lack of experience in modern warfare (the kind we are dealing with in Ukraine) began to show from the very first days of the war against Iran.

The situation with air defense is illustrative. We are used to thinking that the US air defense system is the best in the world. The American multi-level IAMD system is truly unparalleled: it consists of a network of radars, satellites, several levels of air defense on the ground, at sea and in the air. But the footage of how a state-of-the-art American air defense radar worth $ 1.2 billion is destroyed by a cheap Iranian shahed showed that the Americans were not quite ready for the realities of modern warfare.
In just a few days of war, the US and its allies spent a significant amount of expensive missiles for the Patriot and NASAMS systems, worth several million dollars each. In the first four days, the US used up a year’s supply of missiles for the Patriot. Each massive attack by hundreds of drones overloads the air defense control system, which simply does not have time to track all the targets. As a result, even the American THAAD system, which is considered one of the best and most expensive air defense systems in the world, suffered losses.
We have said many times that among all Western countries, only Ukraine has real experience in repelling air attacks in modern warfare. The Russian drones, which attack Ukraine by the hundreds every day, have undergone deep modernization and are much more difficult targets than the outdated “Shaheeds” that Iran uses today. The only way any NATO country can gain experience in countering such attacks is to send its air defense units to Ukraine, and not necessarily to the front line. If the American military spent even a month in Ukraine, defending cities deep in the rear from Russian attacks – for example, Lviv, Lutsk or Khmelnytskyi – they would very quickly understand how to act during combined air attacks.
Ukraine once again demonstrates what wonders our army is capable of in confrontation with a much stronger enemy. It is the Ukrainian military that today has the practical experience that can help protect the world from the aggression of dictators. And the best thing other countries can do to truly prepare for possible wars is to send their military to Ukraine to participate in real combat operations. Theorists, no matter how high-tech they are, still remain theorists.

We will never see any Western troops in Ukraine. The continent has no real leaders to take this necessary and decisive step. Instead of Churchills, DeGauls, and Bismarcks, it has hotdog stand salesmen, who peddle their cowardice.
