Soldiers of a tank battalion, in cooperation with soldiers of the 1st Assault Battalion of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade, captured a trophy — a Russian T-80BVM tank.
According to a unit’s report, the enemy’s equipment was disabled and captured by Ukrainian troops after the battle. According to Oryx, Ukrainian troops have captured 35 T-80BVM tanks since 2022.
The tank is equipped with anti-drone cage armor—a frame made of mesh and rope designed to activate FPV drone warheads. The structure covers the turret’s sides and rear, as well as the vehicle’s engine and transmission compartments.
In addition, the tank has visible dynamic protection: Kontakt-1 blocks on the front and sides and Relikt blocks on the turret.
The T-80BVM is a modernized version of the T-80BV tank, developed by the Omsk Transport Engineering Plant. It increases the vehicle’s basic combat characteristics.

The tank is equipped with a 125 mm 2A46M-4 gun, a 2E58 weapon stabilizer, and a TVN-5 driver’s observation device. The loading mechanism has been modified for use with depleted uranium armor-piercing ammunition — 3BM59 “Svinets-1” and 3BM60 “Svinets-2”.
Improved command control is provided by the installation of the R-168-25U-2 “Aqueduct” VHF radio station. The tank also received a modernized GTD-1250 gas turbine engine.
