Russia just reached a new milestone – 1,300,000 casualties in Ukraine. This is a massive problem for Russia, contributing to their ongoing demographic crisis. In our lifetimes, this could easily lead to the weakening (or collapse) of the Russian state. I trace this trend to a very specific destination – the small Russian town, and how the collapse of towns across Siberia could start a trend Russia can’t recover from. I discuss surprising knock-on effects, including infrastructure and Russian profits from oil and natural gas. Let’s discuss this trend and whether or not Russia can really recover from it.
