Fighting is still ongoing in the village of Grabovske, Sumy region, where a Russian detachment recently kidnapped 50 people. Ukrainian defense forces are clearing the border area from the enemy.
This was announced by the press service of the Joint Forces Group. They specified that the Ukrainian army is expelling the enemy into Russian territory.
“Fights are currently ongoing in the village of Grabovske. Ukrainian defense forces are making efforts to drive the occupiers into Russian territory. Despite some reports in the media, there are currently no Russians in the neighboring village of Ryasne,” the report says.
What preceded
As a reminder, on December 20, Russian invaders occupied the border village of Grabovske in Sumy Oblast. After that, they forcibly deported to the territory of the Russian Federation more than 50 local residents (mostly elderly people) who had previously refused to be evacuated to the depths of Ukraine in writing . According to the village head Larisa Kremezna, there were no children among the deported Ukrainians.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the information about the kidnapping. Later, it became known that servicemen of the 36th Motorized Rifle Brigade from the Transbaikal region were involved in the war crime.
As OBOZ.UA reported, on this occasion, the Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets held a conversation with his Russian colleague Tatyana Moskalkova with a demand to provide information about the abducted civilians and called on the international community to assess the actions of the aggressor state in order to stop the illegal deportations of Ukrainians.
