Moscow and Washington are discussing the use of the remaining Russian funds frozen in the United States to rebuild territories damaged during the war it unleashed in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia is prepared to contribute $1 billion to Donald Trump’s “Peace Council” to secure its permanent membership. He proposed using the money from frozen Russian assets in the United States. He made this announcement during a Security Council meeting.

“Already now, even before our question of participation in the Peace Council’s composition and work itself is resolved, given Russia’s special relationship with the Palestinian people, we could, I think, send one billion US dollars to the Peace Council from Russian assets frozen under the previous US administration,” the Russian leader stated.

According to him, Moscow and Washington are discussing the use of the remaining Russian funds frozen in the United States to rebuild territories damaged during the war it unleashed in Ukraine.

“The remaining funds from our frozen assets in the US could also be used to rebuild territories damaged by the fighting after a peace treaty is concluded between Russia and Ukraine. We are also discussing this possibility with representatives of the US administration,” he said.

The President claims that he has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to study the proposal for a “Peace Council,” consult with partners, and that Russia will then respond.

Putin also commented for the first time on the possibility of the United States purchasing Greenland. He said Washington would be willing to handle the deal if the island were sold at prices comparable to Alaska—that is, $200-250 million.

He also stated that “Denmark has always treated Greenland harshly, as a colony.” He also noted that this issue does not concern Moscow.
