Oil depot in the Volgograd region is on fire after UAV strikes

10.01.2026

In the Volgograd region of Russia, there was a complaint about a drone
attack on an oil depot. The ubiquitous “debris” provoked a fire at the facility.

The possibility of evacuating “residents of nearby buildings” is being considered. The consequences of the attack were confirmed by the governor of the Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov.

What is known

The local governor reported at around 5 a.m. Kyiv time that a fire broke out at an oil depot in the Oktyabrsky district of the Volgograd region after a night attack. The whole thing is, of course, in the “fragments”, since the attack was “repulsed” by Russian air defense forces, as usual.

“Tonight, air defense units of the Russian Ministry of Defense are repelling a terrorist attack by unmanned aerial vehicles on the territory of the Volgograd region. In the Oktyabrsky district, a fire was recorded at an oil depot as a result of falling UAV debris. Fire and emergency services, as well as municipal education employees are working at the scene of the incident… According to preliminary data, there are no victims,” Bocharov noted.

It is noteworthy that, unlike many other attacks, at the time of publication of the news, no footage from the scene could be found online. However, the very fact that local authorities recognized the “fire” may indicate that the consequences are quite serious.

The governor did not specify which oil depot he was referring to. However, his remark that “in case of evacuation of residents of nearby buildings, the emergency response center at Oktyabrsky School No. 2 was put on alert” and that “municipal employees” were involved in eliminating the consequences of the attack suggests that the attacked oil depot is located in the village of Oktyabrsky. The oil depot located there has already become the object of close attention of the Defense Forces, in particular on July 27 last year.

In addition to the lack of video and photos from the scene of the fire, there is another oddity in this attack. While the governor was praising the Russian air defense, which “repels a terrorist attack” by the Defense Forces on a legitimate military target, the Russian Defense Ministry, in its traditional “summary” of “intercepted and destroyed” UAVs, announced the alleged shooting down of 59 drones. But the Volgograd region is not included in the list of regions where the air defense was operating in this “summary”.

However, after 4 a.m., the Volgograd region once again declared a “drone emergency,” and the Volgograd airport stopped operations.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that only 8 HIMARS missiles caused a blackout in Belgorod. The successful launches, which left about half a million Russians without electricity and heating, took place on the night of January 9. Another 200,000 residents of the region faced water supply problems.

  1. “The whole thing is, of course, in the “fragments”, since the attack was “repulsed” by Russian air defense forces, as usual.”

Those same air defences that protected Maduro so well.

    • Since then, they have become renowned losers worldwide. Of course, we knew of their uselessness far longer than that.
