Hungary’s incoming Prime Minister Péter Magyar has expressed his desire for friendly relations with Ukraine and said he is opposed to any peace terms being imposed on Kyiv.
Source: Magyar at a press conference for foreign media in Budapest, as reported by European Pravda
Quote from Magyar: “I have not changed my position as Orbán does depending on where he is speaking – in Moscow or Brussels. Everyone in Hungary knows that Ukraine is the victim of this war. The task of Ukraine’s government is to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty, and no one can dictate to them, after four years of war, the terms on which they should make peace.”
Details: Magyar added that no country can be told to give up its territory, as politicians from Fidesz – still Hungary’s ruling party – have suggested. He pointed out that if Russia were to attack Hungary, no one would give up territory either.
“It is not for Hungary to decide on peace between Russia and Ukraine, but Ukraine should be provided with security guarantees and guarantees of territorial integrity that can be upheld and monitored,” he said.
Background:
- Magyar also indicated that he will not block the EU’s €90 billion loan for Ukraine, as the decision has already been made, but confirmed that Hungary will not participate in it.
- He also outlined his views on relations with Russia and its leader Vladimir Putin.

👍👍👍
He can expect to be called a person of low IQ by TACO after stating the obvious. Neither the Kremlin or WH have called to congratulate Magyar on his victory. That’s rather telling.
He’s my kinda fella, dislikes both the EU and ruSSia, but supports Ukraine. 🫶
