The destruction of reconnaissance drones will set the occupiers back a generation. According to the Russian military correspondent of the Russian Federation Alexander Kharchenko, the Ukrainians have established a system for detecting and destroying enemy UAVs.

The Ukrainian military has begun to more often destroy Russian reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles using modified FPV drones. Russian military correspondent Alexander Kharchenko reported this on his Telegram channel.

“The Ukrainians often began to shoot down our wings. This is too alarming a signal. People do not die from such actions, but the consequences may be more serious than from the supply of dozens of Abrams,” said Alexander Kharchenko.

According to him, the destruction of reconnaissance UAVs will throw the Russians back a generation, when the Russian Armed Forces will fight in “two-dimensional space”, then the Ukrainians will wage war in 3D. In addition, FPV drones are cheaper than reconnaissance drones and can replace other weapons, in particular Western ones.

Kharchenko noted that FPV drones can fly at speeds of up to 500 kilometers per hour, as a result of which enemy UAVs, including the Geranium, are at risk. He noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces also plan to shoot down enemy attack helicopters when they fly close to the front line.

“Another advantage of fighter drones is their mobility and stealth. Their use does not require multi-ton vehicles, which in modern conditions cannot be hidden. Two people on motorcycles is already an air defense weapon that is very difficult to detect,” the military correspondent explained.

He is convinced that the most dangerous thing is that the Ukrainians have established a system for detecting and destroying enemy drones. Building just such systems is the key to successful application, because without them, an FPV drone at an altitude of several thousand meters will not be able to find a target. Moreover, Alexander Kharchenko said that the Russians in the sky have nothing to protect their “wings.” Whereas the first one to clear the sky of reconnaissance drones will have an advantage, he added.

Let us recall that on June 11, the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vadim Sukharevsky, reported that since January, the Ukrainian military has received from the state six times more drones than in the entire 2023. According to him, the trend is increasing.

On June 13, the SBU said that fighters managed to destroy a rare Russian radar station “Zoo” using several FPV drones. The enemy tried to disguise the station with several dummies, but this did not help.

  1. Reading this makes me glad. Through recon drones, the cockroaches have managed to make painful strikes on Ukrainian equipment which, as we know, don’t come easy.
