The State Duma says that politicians may meet as early as February or March.

Russia has announced that a meeting between Kremlin leader Putin and US President Donald Trump is expected to take place “soon.”

Leonid Slutsky, head of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told reporters that preparations for the meeting were at an “advanced” stage. According to him, the likelihood of contacts between the politicians is “100 percent”:

“In the near future, I think, we will have specific information about the meeting, and I will express hope that this meeting will have constructive consequences for the most pressing issues of today’s world politics. These are Ukraine, the Middle East and, in general, issues of world politics and international relations in the near future.”
