In the event of an invasion of Ukraine, Russia is preparing to kill or arrest a list of prominent Ukrainian politicians and anti-corruption activists, as well as Belarusian and Russian dissidents who live in exile. The lists have already been prepared.
Foreign Policy writes about this , citing an American official and informed sources. It is noted that information about this was confirmed by four people who have US intelligence data.
“As we have seen in the past, we expect Russia to attempt to increase cooperation through intimidation and repression. These actions, which have included targeted killings, kidnappings/enforced disappearances, detentions and torture in past Russian operations, are likely to target those who opposes the actions of Russia, including Russian and Belarusian dissidents in exile in Ukraine, journalists and anti-corruption officials, as well as vulnerable segments of the population, such as religious and ethnic minorities and LGBTQI +,” the official said on condition of anonymity.
According to him, the United States intends to declassify intelligence in order to share this information with Ukrainian officials or those who are able to help.
The Joe Biden Administration was surprised at how formalized these lists are. And the press secretary of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky did not comment on the information.
