“Greetings” to the enemy on Christmas: SBU hit oil tanks in the port of Temryuk and a gas processing plant in Orenburg. Video

On the night of December 25, the territory of the aggressor country Russia was attacked by long-range drones of the SBU’s Alpha Special Operations Center. The drones hit oil tanks in the port of Temryuk and a gas processing plant in Orenburg.

Fires broke out at two facilities as a result of the arrivals. Informed sources reported this to OBOZ.UA.

Details of the operation

According to the source, long-range drones of the Special Operations Center “Alpha” of the Security Service of Ukraine successfully hit two important objects of the oil and gas sector of Russia. The first to be attacked was the seaport of Temryuk in the Krasnodar Territory. As a result of the shelling, two tanks with oil products caught fire on the territory of the object. The area of the fire reached about 2 thousand square meters. The Russians involved 70 people and 18 units of equipment to extinguish the fire.

Some time later, the SBU sent Christmas “greetings” to the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant. This is the world’s largest gas chemical complex, which processes 37.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

As a result of the arrival of drones, a gas fire occurred in the pipeline of the 3U-70 plant, which purifies raw gas from hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. The technological process at the enterprise was stopped.

“The SBU continues systematic attacks on the oil and gas sector facilities of the Russian Federation. Each of them hits the Russian budget, reduces foreign exchange earnings, and complicates logistics and fuel supplies for the army. The SBU will continue to conduct special operations to create additional pressure on the Russian economy,” an informed source in the Security Service reported.

Data from NASA’s FIRMS fire monitoring mapping service indicate that severe fires continue to burn at the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant and the Temryuk Seaport several hours later.

What is known about the targets affected?

The Orenburg Gas Processing Plant is a strategically important enterprise that is part of the world’s largest gas chemical complex, Orenburg. The plant is unique in that it processes multi-component gas with a high content of hydrogen sulfide and helium.

The main source of raw materials is the Orenburg oil and gas condensate field, as well as gas from the Karachaganak field (Kazakhstan). This is the only plant in Russia capable of processing gas with such a high concentration of aggressive sulfur compounds.

The plant works in close cooperation with the Orenburg Helium Plant. At the same time, they produce a wide range of products: purified “dry” commercial gas (supplied to the Gazprom system). The plant is also one of the leading producers of gas sulfur in Russia, propane and butane.

The Temryuk seaport is a critically important link in the logistics of southern Russia, and strikes on it directly affect the supply of troops. Its impact on military potential is determined by three factors: fuel and ammunition logistics for the southern group, supplies via the Sea of Azov, and export potential and financing.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out another successful operation on the territory of the aggressor country, Russia. As a result, a series of successful strikes were carried out on  the Efremov synthetic rubber plant  in the Tula region.

As OBOZ.UA wrote, earlier the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that  the Slavyansky refinery in the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban  in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation was hit.
