Explosions In Voronezh, russia: CHP Plant Hit, Fire Breaks Out

9 November 2025

Explosions were heard in Voronezh, Russia, on the night of November 9. Local residents complained about strikes on the local CHP plant.

After several arrivals, a fire broke out near this energy facility. Footage from Voronezh with comments from a local resident was published by the Telegram channel Exilenova+.

What is known

The explosions in Voronezh, Russia, occurred during a “missile alert”: it was declared twice in the region last night – from 03:39 to 04:20 and from 04:50 (Kyiv time), while the “drone alert” had been ongoing since the end of the previous day.

In local chat rooms, Russians complained about a possible attack on the local CHP.

“Voronezh, locals report an attack on CHP-1, before that a missile threat was declared there,” summed up the complaints of Voronezh residents in Exilenova+.

The strike, judging by the publications in some Voronezh public forums, fell
on the first “missile danger”. One of them, citing readers, wrote that “it thundered at least 3 times” (the author of one of the videos also reported three arrivals) – with which commentators who heard four, five, or even “much more” explosions, did not agree.

Russians reported a fire near the CHP, discussed what exactly was flying, drones or missiles, complained that the sirens in the city had not been turned on again, as well as about power outages.

Where did it arrive?

The Russian independent publication ASTRA conducted an OSINT analysis of footage from Voronezh and concluded that it really arrived via CHP-1.

The footage that appeared online was filmed from the Aviabudivelniki embankment in Voronezh, the publication claims. The distance from the filming location to the CHP is 1.3 km.

“According to ASTRA’s analysis, the Voronezh CHP-1 was attacked in the video. The station is located in the city of Voronezh, at 2 Lebedeva Street. According to open data, the thermal power plant is part of RIR Energo JSC. The installed electrical capacity is 378.3 MW, thermal capacity is 1,389.3 Gcal/h. The number of employees is 430 people,” the message states.

The publication also added that after the explosions in a number of houses in Voronezh, electricity disappeared and then appeared. Reports of the attack and fire at the CHP appeared in several local chat rooms at once.

It is known that Voronezh CHP-1 is the largest supplier of thermal energy for residential buildings and large enterprises in the city. The plant provides thermal energy to four districts of the city – Livoberezhny, Zaliznychny, Leninsky and Tsentralny, as well as over a thousand enterprises, including the largest Voronezh plant – Voronezhsintezkauchuk.

A photo of what is allegedly the damaged CHP-1 building in Voronezh appeared on the Supernova+ Telegram channel.

Reaction of the Russian authorities

At first, local authorities remained silent about the attack, but at around 7 a.m. Kyiv time, Voronezh Oblast Governor Oleksandr Gusev announced a “fire at one of the municipal facilities” that “was promptly extinguished.”

“Due to the fire, temporary measures were taken for technological safety reasons, due to which fluctuations in the temperature of central heating could be observed in some buildings. In the near future, the temperature of the coolant in these buildings will return to normal. For the same technological reasons, it was decided to suspend the supply of electricity to some areas of the city for a short period. Now electricity is supplied to all consumers in the normal mode,” the Russian official said.

Gusev also claimed that during the night Russian air defense “suppressed” several UAVs over Voronezh, but the Russian Defense Ministry does not seem to suspect this: they announced “44 downed UAVs” – one over Rostov and 43 over Bryansk regions. The so-called summary does not mention missiles.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that explosions erupted in Kazan, followed by a fire.

It also became known that the previous day, the power went out in Belgorod after a strike on a CHP plant. After the attack, there were reports of damage to gas turbine units.

  1. There seems to be a lot of confusion in the cockroach population about this strike. Missiles, drones? What was hit? How many explosions? And there seemed to have not been any sirens or other warning signals going off prior to the attack.
The reactions of the mafia authorities can be completely ignored.
We’ll see later what the results of the attack were, and maybe what was used to do the attacking.
Keep the mafia state burning and in the dark!
