On the evening of January 6, explosions again erupted in the Belgorod region of Russia. According to available information, Ukrainian drones hit another oil depot of the aggressor country – the enterprise is burning so much that the fire can be seen from several kilometers away.

According to reports from the OSINT community of the Exilenova+ group,  explosions occurred in the city of Stary Oskol, Belgorod region. Local authorities have not yet commented on the explosions and fire in the city.

Where were the explosions?

Stary Oskol is the administrative, economic and industrial center of the large Stary Oskol-Gubkin agglomeration of the Central Black Earth Region. It is located on the banks of the Oskol River, 153 km northeast of Belgorod, near the border with Kursk Oblast. It is the second most populous city in the region.

Interestingly, the city was previously part of the Kiev province. However, now it is the bearer of the red banner of the Kursk Komsomol committee.

Stary Oskol is home to the Oskolneftesnab oil depot, which has already been the target of attacks by Ukrainian drones, resulting in explosions and fires at the company’s tanks. This oil depot is a large regional company that supplies fuel to the entire Belgorod region.

The Oskolneftesnab base, in particular, was first attacked from the air in May 2024. This base was also hit by an airstrike in November of the same year.

As OBOZ.UA reported, on the night of January 6, 2026, the front strike units of the Special Operations Forces successfully struck at the occupiers’ facilities in the temporarily captured territories of the Donetsk region. Using FP-2 strike drones, our soldiers hit two occupiers’ depots, and the enemy’s logistics were also damaged as a result of the strike.

In addition, the SBU carried out effective strikes on a missile and artillery arsenal in the Kostroma region and an oil depot in Lipetsk. The attacks caused large-scale fires.

  1. Nice job again, Ukraine. Keeping those fires going is paying dividends.

“Interestingly, the city was previously part of the Kiev province.”

As is known to history buffs, the mafia state has always stolen lands from Ukraine.
