The plants provide production and repair of Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft, Il-78M-90A and L-410 tanker aircraft.

On March 16, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the infrastructure of the Aviastar aircraft factory near the city of Ulyanovsk, in the Ulyanovsk region of the Russian Federation.

As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enterprise is part of the United Aircraft Corporation (a Rostec structure) and ensures the production of Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft, Il-78M-90A tanker aircraft, as well as servicing An-124 Ruslan heavy transport aircraft.

According to preliminary information, the climate shelter and aircraft parking areas were affected. 

“Some of the aircraft on the territory of the enterprise received damage of varying degrees. The scale of the damage is being clarified,” the General Staff added.Read also:

A little later, the General Staff reported that the facilities of the 123rd aircraft repair plant in the city of Staraya Russa, Novgorod region of the Russian Federation were similarly hit. It is noted that this plant specializes in the full cycle of repair and modernization of Il-76 and L-410 military transport aircraft.
