On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Russian Federation’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the United Jewish Community of Ukraine publishes a list of damaged or destroyed synagogues, Jewish community facilities, Jewish cemeteries, and historical sites whose damage has been recorded.

This list is presented in chronological order, with approximate dates of incidents. It is important to note that some of the infrastructure presented was attacked and damaged more than once.

Destruction monitoring has been conducted for 4 years, however, due to the large amount of information or its temporary absence, the list may be incomplete and expanded in the future. The degree of damage to the objects varies from minor (broken windows) to complete destruction. Due to the complexity of accurately qualifying the damage for a number of objects, the data provided are of an estimated nature.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the Jewish heritage in the occupied territories, the condition of which cannot be verified. However, it can be stated with complete confidence that, for example, in the territory of the former Novozlatopil Jewish National District (Zaporizhzhya region), where several synagogues and more than a dozen cemeteries are located, active hostilities have been underway for more than two years. During monitoring, we saw that at times the front line in DeepState passed exactly along the Jewish cemetery in the Bohodarivka colony (Novodarivka), which we marked with a memorial sign in 2021. That is, we can say with complete confidence that the objects of Jewish heritage in this area have suffered, and we will be able to assess the damage after the end of the hostilities, if the situation with demining allows.

Also, after the deoccupation of the right-bank Kherson region, which took place in the fall of 2022, the United Jewish Community of Ukraine planned an expedition in the summer of 2023 to check the state of Jewish heritage in the territory of the former Kalinindorf Jewish National District. However, after a meeting with local residents, it became clear that visiting several cemeteries in the agricultural colonies of Bobrovy Kut, Mala and Velyka Seydemynukha is dangerous due to possible unexploded shells and mines. And the former colonies of Lviv and Novoberyslav are actually located on the banks of the Dnieper (actually on the front line). The same can be said about the cemeteries in the north of the Chernihiv region (for example, Gremyach, which is located directly on the border).
