London will support Ukraine’s air defense and allocate funds for the purchase of weapons from the United States within the framework of the PURL initiative.
The UK intends to continue to support Ukraine’s defence capabilities. For this purpose, at least £3 billion will be allocated annually until 2031.
This is stated in a joint statement by the leaders of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and Great Britain, Keir Starmer, regarding the strategic dialogue.

“The UK will continue to provide long-term defence support to Ukraine in line with its commitment to provide at least £3 billion per year until 2030/31 and as much as is necessary to support Ukraine,” the statement said.
At the same time, Britain pledges to continue supporting Ukraine’s air defense needs through its leadership in the Contact Group on Ukrainian Defense (the “Rammstein” format), as well as its previous financial contribution under the PURL initiative for the procurement of weapons for Ukraine in the United States.
The leaders of Ukraine and Britain also expressed mutual readiness to deepen multilateral cooperation within the framework of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF). These forces operate under the overall leadership of Great Britain.
“Based on the agreements between Ukraine and the United Kingdom on the exchange of battlefield technologies from June 2025, we will continue cooperation within the LYRA program to scale up the production of OCTOPUS interceptor drones and continue to identify mutually beneficial joint initiatives in the field of defense technologies,” the statement said.
Leaders intend to continue working to facilitate pathways for companies both to export and to jointly develop their capabilities.
“Projects like Nightfall will ensure that the needs and demands of the battlefield in Ukraine directly shape British innovation and develop British expertise, enabling the UK’s world-class defence industry to continue to support and enhance Ukraine’s capabilities,” the statement said.Read also:
