Strike on a facility in Venezuela
Journalists who spoke with the US president found out that the strike was on a large facility or factory from which the ships were leaving. According to Trump, the drug supply zone is no longer functioning.
The American president did not specify who exactly conducted the operation — the armed forces or the CIA, citing the secrecy of the details.
The US president said the strike took place about two nights ago, followed by a large explosion in a port area associated with drug boat loading. There has been no official confirmation from Venezuela at this time.
“There was a big explosion in the port area where boats are loading drugs. The supply zone no longer exists,” Donald Trump said.
A US official confirmed to CNN that it was a facility linked to drug trafficking, but did not provide further details.
“Quarantine” of Venezuelan oil
Meanwhile, the White House has ordered the military to focus on “quarantining” (blocking) Venezuelan oil for the next two months.
This is reported by Reuters.
“While military options still exist, the focus is on first using economic pressure through sanctions to achieve the outcome the White House seeks,” the publication quoted an unnamed US official as saying.
