Long-range drones of the SBU’s Alpha Special Operations Center have struck oil production platforms of Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft operating in the Caspian Sea for the third time in the past week.
As UNIAN sources in the special services told us, this time the platform at the Korchagin oil and gas condensate field was hit.
According to the interlocutor, as a result of the attack by SBU drones, the facility’s critically important equipment was damaged, and production processes stopped.
“The SBU continues active work that reduces the flow of petrodollars to the Russian budget, and accordingly, the ability to finance the war against Ukraine. No Russian facility working for war is safe, regardless of its location,” an informed source in the SBU reported.
Strikes on the Russian oil industry
As UNIAN reported, on December 11 and 12, SBU drones already hit the Filanovsky and Korchagin oil production platforms .
On December 11, an attack halted oil and gas production from more than 20 wells served by the Filanovsky platform. On December 12, SBU drones damaged critical equipment on both platforms, leading to the suspension of production processes.
The Filanovsky field is one of the largest explored in Russia and in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. Its reserves amount to 129 million tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas.
