Some of the perpetrators have already been detained.

Poland has accused the Russian Federation of involvement in the destruction of one of Warsaw’s largest shopping centers – Marywilska 44.

On the eve of the anniversary of the fire, the country’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on the microblog X that a group of people committed arson on the orders of Russian special services. Some of the perpetrators have already been detained, while others are still being sought:

“It is currently known for certain that the large fire at the Marywilska shopping center in Warsaw was caused by arson ordered by Russian special services. Some of the perpetrators have already been detained, all the others have been identified and are being sought. We will find you all!”.

Fire in Polish shopping mall

On May 12, 2024, a large-scale fire broke out in the Marywilska 44 shopping center. This 80,000 m² complex housed about 1,400 stores and service points.

Hundreds of firefighters fought the fire, but the fire destroyed more than 80% of the building, and its roof also collapsed.

This is not the first sabotage that Poland has accused Russia of. In the fall, Polish prosecutors said that Moscow’s intelligence services could have been involved in explosions  at courier warehouses in Europe .

Warsaw also announced the detention of a Ukrainian citizen who was preparing  to set fire to one of the Polish factories  on the orders of Russian special services.
