For about a month now, the Israeli Patriot anti-aircraft missile system has been deployed in Ukraine.

The Patriot air defense system, previously promised by Israel,  has been deployed in Ukraine for a whole month to strengthen air defense forces.

As an UNIAN correspondent reports, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this at a press conference. 

“The Israeli complex has been operating in Ukraine for a month. It has been operating for a month,” Zelenskyy said.

He also added that Ukraine will receive two Patriot systems from Germany in the fall.

Patriot from Israel – what is known

Recall that Patriot is an American medium-range air and missile defense system developed by Raytheon. It is used to intercept aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles. The complex consists of a radar, a command post, a guidance station and launchers. The system is capable of simultaneously tracking dozens of targets and operating in an integrated air defense network.

Israel has abandoned Patriot in favor of other systems. Ukraine may receive the decommissioned Patriots. As UNIAN reported, in early June, Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky claimed that Israel had provided Ukraine with the Patriot system.

However, the Israeli Foreign Ministry later  denied  this information, stating that the ambassador’s statements were untrue. Ynet also reported that Russia had demanded clarification from Israel regarding Brodsky’s statement.

At the same time, on June 14, Zelensky clarified the situation, and in particular, Ukraine was receiving a signal about the possible transfer of old Patriot systems from Israel. One system was transferred by Israel to the United States of America for restoration. but as of June, it had not arrived in Ukraine.
