Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov recalled that he proposed regulating the work of Telegram back in 2024. He emphasized that it is necessary to make some decision regarding the messenger at least for the duration of the war.
This concerns, in particular, the registration of channels in Telegram. Budanov said this in an interview for “We are Ukraine”.
“I’m not against messengers, not even against Telegram channels, but excuse me – register your Telegram channel, show who is behind it. You are responsible for the content you post on it. And if you want an anonymous Telegram channel, which by all accounts is a classic media outlet, and you also conduct subversive activities through it, recruitment is carried out through it, that’s a bit of a different issue,” he noted.
Budanov did not give a clear answer as to whether to expect the future streamlining of Telegram’s work and reduction in speed in Ukraine, although he said that this is possible. At the same time, he noted that many people may not like it.
Why are people talking about Telegram restrictions?
Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk proposed to restrict the work of the Telegram messenger. The official made this statement after the terrorist attack in Lviv, which occurred on February 22.
As is known, the aggressor state of the Russian Federation was the one who ordered the terrorist attack. And the Russians recruited the perpetrators precisely through Telegram.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine emphasized that the work of Telegram in Ukraine needs to be regulated in order to prevent the enemy from recruiting Ukrainian citizens. This messenger is actively used by Russia to attract people to commit sabotage and terrorist attacks.
As OBOZ.UA reported, the regime of the aggressor country Russia has launched an investigation into Telegram founder Pavel Durov on charges of “facilitating terrorist activities.” The Russian Federation has also decided on the terms for completely blocking the messenger in the country .
Telegram has been misused by the cockroaches to hire brainkless morons to do their dirty work in Ukraine. Thus, restricting this social media platform is important.
