Blaze by Origin Robotics Positioned as “Out-of-the-Box Solution” Allowing Enemy Drone Shootdowns with Tablet Clicks and Strong Safety Focus

Latvian company Origin Robotics has received its fourth order for Blaze anti-aircraft drones, which are offered as an advanced and economically viable solution with rapid deployment capability and effective interception of various types of enemy UAVs.

Sweden became the new customer for Blaze drones, as company representatives announced to Janes publication. Previously, customers for this Origin Robotics solution included Latvia itself, which first ordered them in October 2025, Belgium, and Estonia. Details of Sweden’s order, particularly regarding volume, cost, and timelines, have not been disclosed.

However, data is provided regarding Belgium’s announced plans, which placed an initial order worth €50 million on November 27, 2025. A framework contract for €1.5 billion is now being prepared, as Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken told the publication. Origin Robotics has also stated they are ready to localize their drone production.

From Defense Express’s perspective, we note that Blaze by Origin Robotics is a classic anti-aircraft drone with an X-shaped design. But the emphasis is on using artificial intelligence, which is responsible for target engagement. In other words, the effectiveness of using this anti-aircraft drone does not depend on the skill of the operator, who controls the drone from a tablet on which they simply select the target for destruction.

In addition, the company declares having a comprehensive solution where the drone is initially guided to the target area using radar data. The latter is also a mandatory condition for effective use of anti-aircraft drones. Additionally, Origin Robotics, unlike a number of other European anti-aircraft drones, did not pursue the kinetic target interception option by ramming, as was done with the French Gobi.

Target destruction is handled by a full warhead that has a three-level safety system and self-destruction mechanism, both on command and in case of emergency situations going beyond the designated zone, loss of communication, or critical failure.

In other words, overall Origin Robotics offers its Blaze as an “out-of-the-box solution” that meets all requirements and challenges. At the same time, the company’s acquisition of a fourth customer country, especially in the form of Sweden, could become a guarantee of further order growth, both through the SAFE financing program, which requires joint procurement, and the logical desire for unification with neighbors

At the same time, competition in Europe’s anti-aircraft drone market is already quite tough. In particular, taking just Germany alone: Diehl Defence is actively promoting Cicada, integrating it into the KDV counter-drone system. Quantum Systems crossed an anti-aircraft drone with a missile and created Jäger. And the TYTAN Interceptor tested in Ukraine is already ready for serial production.
