There are no more armored assaults, now the Russians are going on the attack without the support of armored vehicles.

Russia has practically stopped losing tanks at the front , which is probably due to the final refusal to use them in assault operations. OSINT researcher Richard Vereker writes about this on the social network X.

According to his calculations based on photos and videos available on the Internet, in January the occupiers lost 14 tanks, in February – only 5 units. For comparison, in March 2022 Russia lost 278 tanks (a monthly maximum during the war). In the following months, losses were always measured in dozens or even hundreds. Only in the second half of 2025 did they decrease to the level of 27-41 per month.

“I don’t know why the numbers have dropped so much, but it could be partly due to a combination of changing tactics on the battlefield and perhaps fewer photos being circulated as attention shifts to Iran,” the analyst writes.

However, Vereker notes that the new T-90 tanks have completely disappeared from the list of losses. Their last destruction was recorded three months ago.

    • My thoughts too. And the handful they have left are either in need of repairs or even they realize how futile it is to use tanks anymore.
