AI speculation on 2028

Feb 23, 2026

ChatGPT Preamble:

It’s impossible to reliably predict who the next U.S. president will be.

The next presidential election after 2024 will be held in 2028, and candidates have not yet been formally nominated by the major parties. Outcomes depend on many unpredictable factors, including:

The performance and popularity of the sitting president, Economic conditions (inflation, employment, growth).

International events, Party primaries and candidate selection, Voter turnout and demographic shifts.

Historically, U.S. presidential elections are highly competitive and can shift significantly in the final year.

Gavin Newsom – Governor of California, frequently discussed as a major potential contender and raising his national profile.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) – U.S. Representative often appearing near the top of early speculative lists and polls for Democratic options.

Kamala Harris – Former Vice President and 2024 nominee; polls have shown her with significant early support for 2028 speculation.

Pete Buttigieg – Former Transportation Secretary and earlier 2024 contender — sometimes mentioned as a potential national leader.

Other leaders often referenced in broader discussions include governors like Josh Shapiro, Gretchen Whitmer, JB Pritzker, and Wes Moore on the Democratic bench.

🇺🇸 Republican Party (possible/mentioned figures)

J.D. Vance – Current Vice President under Donald Trump; frequently mentioned as a leading potential Republican contender.

Marco Rubio – Secretary of State and former Senator — discussed as another possible GOP option.

Ron DeSantis – Former Florida governor and major GOP figure still referenced in broader speculation (polls).

Glenn Youngkin – Former governor of Virginia often seen as a potential Republican contender.

  1. What an embarrassment of riches!

    Well, an embarrassment anyway.

The only GOP politician that could be trusted is Roger Wicker. He would send Tomahawks.

But the ones on the current list are total crap.

The Dems look pretty crap too.
Richard Blumenthal looks like the best option from a Ukrainian standpoint.
At least there are no Vance-type nazi-lovers on their list of contenders.
