According to Hodges, Ukraine is currently implementing this very scenario.

To ensure Ukraine’s victory, it is necessary to focus on undermining the Russian aggressor’s economy. This opinion was expressed on Espreso TV by former commander of US forces in Europe, retired General Ben Hodges.

“I think the theory of Ukraine’s victory lies in destroying Russia’s oil and gas infrastructure and its ability to export oil and gas. That is how Ukraine will defeat Russia,” he said.

Hodges stressed that Russia will not be able to finance its aggression if it loses revenue from oil and gas exports to China, India, Turkey, and other buyers. In addition, strikes on the oil and fuel complex will create a certain fuel shortage in the Russian domestic market, in particular, for supplying the army.

That is why the retired general considers it necessary to continue the campaign of air strikes on Russia’s gas and oil infrastructure, including shadow fleet tankers.

“This is an important part of defeating Russia. And interestingly, most of this is being done with Ukrainian technology, Ukrainian weapons that they developed themselves, and Ukrainian intelligence. So, in my opinion, this is the right way to go,” Hodges added.

Actually this is what Ukraine is doing daily: oil refineries, oil tankers, oil sea-port infrastructure, nature gas infrastructure. The war will be finished when Russia will lose export income.

Isn’t it an idea to also confiscate Russian bank assets in Switzerland and other countries and for the EU and the US to jointly provide guarantees that this will not lead to later repercussions in Switzerland?

Roel Raadsen, let’s think together: I am from Melitopol, Ukraine. It was occupied by Russians on February 2024. They nationalized my real estate, agriculture land, energy farms for $80M. In 2014 the same they did in Crimea. Where is my money? Maybe in Switzerland or Belgium or whatever? UN confirms that Russia is keeping illegal war. International Criminal Court Signed an order for Putin’s arrest. So if you are holding criminal’s funds so you should decide: you are helping criminals and also will become a criminal or you are as the rest of the civilized world and Russia must be judged and punished.

🎯 I fully support General Hodges’ logic.
If we truly want to stop the war, we must strike not only at the troops, but at the enemy’s economy. Without oil and gas revenues, Russia cannot sustain a long war, finance its repressive apparatus, or maintain influence over its partners.
Ukraine has already shown the ability to act independently, precisely, and effectively. This is not terrorism — it is a legitimate act of self-defense, strategically justified and morally sound.
❗️Targeted strikes on infrastructure that sustains the enemy’s war machine — oil refineries, logistics hubs, financial pipelines — are the real nerve centers of aggression. Disabling them is the shortest path to peace.
There is a fundamental difference between Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries and Russian attacks on Ukrainian ones. Ukraine targets military-relevant infrastructure to weaken an aggressor actively waging war. Russia, on the other hand, deliberately attacks to destroy Ukraine’s economy, heating, and civilian infrastructure — a war crime, not a military necessity. Morality and legality are not on equal sides here.

This is why it’s frustrating when media report how Russia takes ground in eastern Ukraine. And how Moscow therefore has the edge in negotiations.
They may seldom mention the loss of matérial and appalling human cost. Or how less ground has been taken than at the Somme.
The war won’t be won in the ground. Russia will lose it because the Kremlin can’t finance it. Infighting is already visible. And it’s nasty. Ukraine is winning.
Reports can shape the debate.
Especially when the US president is informed by television over experts, is uninterested in facts and whose affinity draws to Moscow.
Especially when he’s surrounded by people hostile to Europe and friendly to conspiracy theories.

One of the main possible reasons and scenario how to Make America Great Again:

Why is Trump withdrawing American troops from Europe, dismantling NATO, and dividing the EU? Because he and Putin share a common goal: to weaken Europe. They dislike Europe for different reasons, and their goals do not coincide in everything, but Putin and Trump have the same intention—to defeat Europe.
Trump supports Putin. He helps him and Russia. Judging by the coordination of their actions, they have agreed on joint steps and decided the fate of Europe with a new Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. NATO intelligence confirms that Putin will attack Europe. Before Trump came along, this was just a vague and distant plan of Putin’s. With Trump’s arrival, the war was confirmed and the timing brought forward.
Without Putin, Trump would have had to fight Europe with tariffs and ultimatums. With Putin, the process will speed up—Russia will start a war, eliminating the entire competing continent. Instead of economic victories over individual countries, Trump will receive a huge contract to rebuild countries destroyed (disorganized) by war with a new Marshall Plan.
When is it most profitable to attack Europe? The optimal option for Putin is while Trump’s power is unshakable, i.e., no later than the Senate and House of Representatives elections scheduled for November 3, 2026.

🗣 He did not surrender, but hid. How the defender of Azovstal led the FSB by the nose for a year in occupied Mariupol.

When the last defenders of Azovstal surrendered to captivity on the orders of the high command, border guard Denys Storozhuk dove into a dark sewer shaft under the plant to try to escape from occupied Mariupol on his own. A few hours earlier, he and his comrades had destroyed their weapons, marked the bodies of the dead for future evacuation, and written a farewell note, then detonated several grenades so that no one would doubt his death. He says that from the very beginning, he knew he would not be taken prisoner – he remembered all too well his comrades who had survived the shooting of the columns near Ilovaisk and had made their way across the fields to their positions.

At that time, Storozhuk says, he did not yet know that he would end up behind enemy lines, live for almost a year under occupation, pass information to the Ukrainian military, and be hunted down by the FSB. So remarkable that a pro-Kremlin Russian channel even made a film about him

Let’s together make brief analysis

What goals of the “SVO” have been achieved:
•Revive NATO
•Double the length of the border with NATO
•Lose all allies
•Give the US and EU $300 billion in gold and foreign exchange reserves
•Give the US and OPEC oil and gas markets
•Get a budget crisis
•Sell oil to China for a third of the price
•Become a vassal of China.
