🚨❄️ KYIV—Putin decieved Trump: Instead of using missiles to hit Ukraine this weekend, he has used a cyber attack to make the population freeze.
Almost all of Kyiv is without water, heat, and electricity.
The high is 14 F / -10 C.
The Kyiv and Kharkiv metros/underground are also not working due to Russia’s massive cyber attack on the energy grid.
Most of Ukraine and parts of Moldova are without power, it seems.
Still, people gather in cafés and shops and the deafening hum of generators shows that Ukrainians find a way to carry on. But it’s not easy.
The West doesn’t realize this yet, but THIS is the ‘modern’ warfare, an age-old tactic under a new cloak: besiege cities by trying to freeze people to death, by making it uninhabitable so that the will of the people is broken to bring about a surrender.
The will is being tested, there are many tears and frustrations here in Kyiv, but I see a population holding on—even if they have to sleep swaddled in multiple coats.
Important to keep this in mind:
Even if Russia does stick to its pledge not to attack Ukraine’s infrastructure during the upcoming days of highs in the single digits (F), the people of Kyiv will still be largely without heat, electricity, and hot water because of months of sustained attacks.
And yet, in the mind of Trump and of the idiotic media, Putin will have seemed so gracious. This ploy of a pause, while providing a little relief, mainly buys Putin time and wins him massive amounts of goodwill that will serve to harm Ukraine greatly in the coming months.
Be wary.

Russia tries to make Kyiv uninhabitable in a frozen winter. Kyivans adapt and hold on through the hell waiting for spring.
Despite suffering immensely, they do not surrender. What does this tell you?

The Best Defense of Greenland Isn’t in the Arctic. It’s in Ukraine.
Europe has to break out of the mimetic weakness loop. Do it by sending Danish training troops to Ukraine. This will save Europe and, eventually, America.

LVIV—When Europe responds to threats with strongly-worded statements, Putin sees weakness and Trump sees opportunity. The result: an insane mimetic nightmare loop—Russian aggression, dead Ukrainians, European press releases, American bravado, Russian aggression, dead Ukrainians, European press releases—repeat.
What’s needed: a single catalytic action to break the grip of fear and turn the Coalition of the Always-Talking and Would-be-Willing into the Coalition of the Actually Doing.
The solution: Denmark breaks the loop by sending troops to Ukraine.
Danish soldiers would go to Ukraine not to fight but to train and to learn from Ukrainians—and crucially to stand there, in Lviv and Odesa, in particular. This bold move would show that one of the few remaining Russian redlines is a paper tiger like all the others—and suddenly show Donald Trump that Denmark can lead on a problem he has been unable to solve: breaking the Russian war and propaganda machine to achieve real Ukrainian victory.
Break the Mimetic Loop of Mediocrity
European leaders gathered in Paris January 6 to decide that once other people somehow make victory possible, then they will possibly kinda sorta send troops to “keep the peace” in Ukraine. This is the Coalition of the Would-be-Willing.
Trump sees this weakness both as a threat to the West, giving an opening to Russia and China, and as an opportunity for him: to take Greenland from these weak muppets.
Predictably, what does Europe do? They send troops to Greenland:
⦿ France sent around 15 soldiers.
⦿ Germany deployed about 13 soldiers in a reconnaissance team.
⦿ The Netherlands sent 2 soldiers.
⦿ United Kingdom sent 1 officer.
⦿ Iceland sent 2 Coast Guard members.
⦿ Sweden and Norway are also participating, though exact counts haven’t been fully published.
And many of these were only in Greenland for one day!
The only way to defend Greenland and Ukraine is with action.
Send European troops to Ukraine to train and to learn. Send them to Odesa and to Lviv to send a message to Russia: You may not attack these cities while our troops are there. Take that baby step and believe.
The effect? The grip of fear will be broken. Europe will begin to see possibilities of creative solutions that can break Russia’s war machine.
And Donald Trump, seeing that Europe and Ukrainians are making bold moves to end Russia’s war, will shift his focus away from Greenland back to Ukraine in order to be front and center in the actions and accolades.
Until then: We’re stuck. No one is believing in victory. The bang has gone and the whimper is crawling in.

Joe has been in Ukraine throughout the horror. For much of the last four years he remained a Krasnov fan.
No longer it seems.
