American officials report that Ukraine will start its counteroffensive in May.
Source: The New York Times
Quote: “Ukraine is preparing to launch a counteroffensive against Russian forces as early as next month, American officials say, in the face of immense risks: Without a decisive victory, Western support for Ukraine could weaken, and Kyiv could come under increasing pressure to enter serious negotiations to end or freeze the conflict.”
Details: It is stated in the article that American and NATO allies have supplied Ukraine with extensive artillery and ammunition for the upcoming battle, and officials now say they are hopeful the supplies will last.
Although Ukraine shares few details of its operational plan with American officials, the operation is likely to unfold in the country’s south, including along Ukraine’s coastline on the Sea of Azov, near Russian-annexed Crimea.
While Ukrainian officials have said their goal is to break through dug-in Russian defences and create a widespread collapse in Russia’s army, American officials have assessed that it is unlikely the offensive will result in a dramatic shift in momentum in Ukraine’s favour.

I’ll take my usual pinch of salt over this report. No, several pinches.
Ukraine will not set a date. The army will move when they feel the time is right. Nobody needs to know, nobody needs to report.
Precisely.
“Ukraine is preparing to launch a counteroffensive against Russian forces as early as next month, American officials say, in the face of immense risks: Without a decisive victory, Western support for Ukraine could weaken, and Kyiv could come under increasing pressure to enter serious negotiations to end or freeze the conflict.”
If the US can deliver weapons a little quicker than the current snail pace, then Ukraine have no problems.
“If the US can deliver weapons a little quicker than the current snail pace, then Ukraine have no problems.”
Remember, we still have sleepy in the WH.
I suppose a little criticism of Joe is deserved, but you have to admit he’s done a far better job against Russia that whoever it was who was supposed to be defending Crimea in the first place.
But yeah, tell me the story again of how Ukraine who helped build a bunch of nukes for Russia is entitled to US protection simply because it accepted payment to dispose of nukes it couldn’t use and would be expensive to try and maintain.
Anyway, good luck finding a viable pro-Ukrainian conservative candidate. Joe might be the best option for Ukraine available.
Retired US General “Ben” Hodges made an interesting observation recently that even post 2014, Ukraine didn’t 100% switch into a war time economy to produce the type of ammunition it now needs. Surely Biden and the West are to blame for that too. I mean hey, who wants to pay for all that. But yeah, Joe’s the sleepy one isn’t he!
You are a Biden fanboy, and that’s okay, and your prerogative. I’m not, despite the aid he’s provided. It’s clear that you’re missing some key points. Biden’s mistakes started right from the start of his presidency. Afghanistan and opening our borders. Not enough, he’s bungled the situation in Ukraine from the start. His methodology has only extended the duration of this war. Denying critical items first, then saying maybe, then saying yes, then sending too little … these are not a way to handle such a situation, regardless what you are saying. We’re sitting on huge stockpiles, wasting away in time that could help end this war asap.
Fear!
This is what governs Biden. Period. A fearful POTUS is the antipodal of a warmonger. Both are dangerous for us.
Regarding Ukraine in previous years, we’re talking about one of Europe’s poorest nations, which was left with all the trimmings of a post-soviet union country, where, unfortunately, mafia land, corruption and oligarchs practically rule the country. The Ukrainian people want to change that and they have made great strides in this direction. We’ve helped so many other countries, even those that hate us, why should we not give Ukraine our fullest support, seeing that they respect us and are striving what we have? What Biden is doing is too little too late, from the start until this w´very day.
All the allies with a few exceptions need to get all promised items in waaaay quicker. And when the AFU is darn good and ready they will blast, burn, fill them full of lead or bury them alive if the rashists aren’t fast enough to get the frack out of Ukraine.
When was the West ever quick enough to accomplish something? That’s right, never.
