Iran has concluded a contract to purchase Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets from Russia, according to Saeed Iravani, Iran’s representative to the UN, Iranian state-owned news agency IRIB reported on March 11.
No other details were reported.
Iran has developed strong ties with Russia in various sectors over the past year, providing Russia with Shahed-136 kamikaze-drones that Russian forces are using to attack Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
Despite overwhelming evidence of the drone supplies, Iran has denied delivering them to Russia after the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022.
In November, the U.S. imposed sanctions against companies and individuals involved in producing and transferring Iranian drones to Russia. The EU and Canada have also sanctioned Iran over its supply of kamikaze drones to Moscow.
The Pentagon warned in December that Iranian pilots had reportedly been learning to fly Sukhoi fighters in Russia.
Iran’s fleet mostly consists of Soviet Mikoyan and Sukhoi fighter jets, some Chinese aircraft, and several U.S.-made F-4 and F-5 fighter jets dating back to before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The axis of evil is growing. With this newest development, and Iran’s warming relations with Saudi Arabia, can Israel continue to afford sitting on the fence in regard to military aid to Ukraine? I think not. Let’s see how long Netanyahu will keep on snoozing with the looming dangers on the horizon.

Maybe the ruskie assholes have no use for these aircraft because they are too easily shot down by Ukrainians and so they trade them for more useful items from the Mullah assholes. I don’t think that they will be selling new ones, seeing that they can’t build them.
They are new, but manufactured some years ago.

I honestly think we are underestimating Russian jets, I think the Flanker familiy is very good and roughly comparable to F-15 jets.
Russian MIG-29 and Su-27 and derivatives do not suck, as proven by Ukraine.
Ukraine has lost few Su-27 during the war, and they only have the early models.
Russia lacks training, morale, strategy and maintenance of these birds,
and countries flying them are often poor countries like India suffering from the same issues.
I don’t know about Iran, but I do know they have some maintenance Gods.
They can even fly pre-1979 jets, such as Tomcats, Phantoms and F-5’s without ever receiving spare parts.
I meant brand new, like still having to be manufactured extra for this deal.
These Flankers were made some years ago as they were made for Egypt.
