Nine countries intend to provide Ukraine with tanks, heavy artillery, air defense, ammunition and infantry fighting vehicles.

Nine countries promise to provide Ukraine with unprecedented defense support for its success in repelling Russian aggression and expelling Russian troops from the occupied territories.

This is stated in a joint statement by the defense ministers of Estonia, Great Britain, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and representatives of Denmark, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Slovakia, which was named “Tallinn Commitments”.

In particular, they recognize that arming Ukraine to oust Russia from occupied Ukrainian territory is just as important as arming Ukrainians to defend the territory under Ukrainian control.

“Together, we will continue to support Ukraine to move from resistance to the expulsion of Russian forces from Ukrainian territory. By uniting allies and partners, we ensure that the growth of global military support will be as strategic and coordinated as possible,” the joint statement said.

At the same time, it is emphasized that a new level of the necessary combat power can only be achieved by combining the potential of main battle tanks, anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense equipment, which will act together with divisional artillery groups, as well as high-precision fire guidance, which will help to hit logistical and control points on the occupied territories

“Therefore, we undertake to collectively seek the supply of an unprecedented set of donations, including tanks, heavy artillery, air defense, ammunition and infantry fighting vehicles for the defense of Ukraine,” the statement said.

In this regard, it is said that this significant assistance will come from the national army reserves and resources, which “illustrates a common understanding of the seriousness of the situation and our determination to immediately increase and accelerate support for Ukraine.”

At the same time, approving these “Tallinn Commitments”, nine countries are going to the meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine (“Ramstein-8”), which will be held tomorrow, January 20, at the Ramstein Air Base, and are also strongly urging others countries to follow suit and make their own contribution of support in order to ensure Ukraine’s victory on the battlefield in 2023 as soon as possible.
