Great Britain will give Ukraine one of the largest packages of military aid. British Defense Minister Ben Wallace noted that London is preparing a squadron of  Challenger 2 tanks for the Armed Forces.

“Today’s package is a “significant increase in Ukraine’s capabilities”. This means that they can go from existing to expelling Russian troops from Ukrainian soil,”  The Guardian quoted the head of Britain’s defense ministry as saying.

The new package of military aid from London will include:

  • a squadron of Challenger 2 tanks along with armored recovery and repair vehicles;
  • AS90 guns;
  • 100 thousand artillery shells;
  • 100 advanced missiles;
  • BpLA;
  • 100 units of armored vehicles, including the “Bulldog” armored personnel carrier;
  • spare parts for tanks and armored vehicles.

According to Wallace, London believes that Moscow will go on the offensive again in Ukraine, so the allies should accelerate their collective efforts. In addition, the British Ministry of Defense showed the tanks that they will send to Ukraine.

It is worth noting that Great Britain became the first European country to supply tanks for the Armed Forces.

The position of Great Britain regarding the war in Ukraine – what is known

London has been supporting Kyiv since the first days of the full-scale war in Ukraine. On January 14, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and President Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation, during which it became known that the  British government  is preparing to increase support for Ukraine, “including by providing Challenger 2 tanks and additional artillery systems.”

In turn, Zelensky thanked the politician for the strong support from Great Britain.

Such combat vehicles have been in service with the British Army since 1994. The tank is armed with a 120-mm rifled gun and a 7.62-mm chain gun. The production of this model of tanks was stopped in 2009 due to the lack of a defense order from the British government.

  1. May God bless the Brits. I don’t know how or when but the Brits will be rewarded for their kindness, compassion and love of humanity.

  2. I think it’s confirmed that 30 AS-90’s are on the way. Better if it was more, but still very useful. It is a self-propelled system and has a range of up to 30km.

What is your opinion?
