Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed a new commander to lead his forces in Ukraine.

Gen. Valery Gerasimov will take over from Sergei Surovikin, the country’s Defense Ministry said on Telegram Wednesday, a change that comes as the Kremlin’s forces appeared close to a breakthrough in bitter fighting on the eastern front lines.

The announcement came just three months after Surovikin became the first person to be handed sole charge of the campaign since Russia launched its invasion on Feb. 24.

The ministry saidhewould now serve as one of Gerasimov’s three deputies, along with Army Gen. Oleg Salyukov and Col. Gen. Alexey Kim.

  1. Surovikin. “I have a foolproof plan boss” Let’s attack Ukrainian infrastructure, the nazis will freeze to death and beg for the war to end”

    • This is a dog and pony show except it is fun to watch, lol. Vladolf is giving the orders but his lapdog generals are taking the blame for Vladolf’s bad decisions. I can sense a new Hollywood comedy movie in the making.

      • It gets even better. Wagner are claiming to have taken Soledar. The russian military are saying they haven’t.

          • Nope, not yet. It’s not worth it. Relatives back home are getting air raid sirens every day and a stray russian missile could hit anywhere. The electricity is not at 100% yet, they still have regular power cuts. Plus my wife has a good job here, so it looks like we’ll be staying for the foreseeable future.

  2. Back to plan F: Gerasimov: we will invade from Belarus and take Kyiv in 2 days and not 3 days as our first cunning plan. I ll contact the orchestra of the Russian Army for the parade in Kyiv.

What is your opinion?
