Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said during a visit to South Africa that his country supports President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s peace plan, Anadolu reports.

According to him, Turkey believes that the Russian war against Ukraine will end at the negotiating table.

“Our goal is obviously a just peace and mutually acceptable solution, we believe that this war will end up at the negotiation table. The sooner the better,” the diplomat said.”

He noted that “there is a new reality” as Russia declared its readiness for negotiations, and Zelenskyy proposed a 10-point peace plan.

“We, Turkey, support this plan and continue our work, despite the war, negotiations are underway in many dimensions. There is a war going on, but we interact with both sides. We are trying to end this war as soon as possible,” Cavusoglu said.

During his speech at the G20 summit in November, Zelenskyy presented a 10-step formula for peace. It provides for the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine and the restoration of the 1991 borders, the cessation of hostilities, the payment of reparations by Russia for the damage caused to Ukraine, the creation of a special tribunal for Russian war criminals and other points.

It also became known that Turkey plans to open an Honorary Consulate in Lviv.
