The government expects to begin the restoration of housing destroyed as a  result of the Russian aggression in the near future with the help of confiscated assets of Russian banks.

“In the near future, we expect to begin reconstruction with the funds confiscated from Russian banks – there is already 17 billion UAH in a special account for this purpose. The first priority is the destroyed housing of people,” said Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during the government meeting.

According to him, the state budget for the current year has laid down 35.5 billion UAH for the Fund for liquidation of the consequences of armed aggression. This is the construction and repair of public buildings, critical infrastructure facilities, housing for internally displaced persons.

Shmyhal also noted that part of the major reconstruction will be the attraction of foreign investments into the Ukrainian economy. Therefore, this year Ukraine should complete the negotiations on military risk insurance for foreign investors.

“Together with the World Bank, we plan to carry out another verification of Ukraine’s needs for rapid recovery. Let me remind you that we have such a fixation at the beginning of June. Then the figure was 350 billion dollars in damages. Taking into account the latest attacks on our infrastructure, today this amount reaches more than 700 billion dollars.” Shmyhal noted.

Restoration of destroyed housing in the Russian Federation

As reported by UNIAN, as of the beginning of September, according to the calculations of the Kyiv School of Economics, at least 15,300 high-rise buildings and 115,900 private houses have been damaged or destroyed in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s large-scale war.

On October 18, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine launched the “Recovery” program, which provides for the financing of construction works for the partial restoration of residential buildings damaged as a result of Russia’s military aggression.

  1. The headline has a translation error. I think they mean “reconstruction of buildings destroyed by the RF.” Or “the nazi vermin” as they should be referred.
Payment by putlerstan must be comprehensive and have a strong punishment element contained in it too.
Work around allocating a figure of $1 trillion for reconstruction, $250bn for Ukraine’s armed forces, $500bn for economic damage and $250bn for compensation for victims families.
    Grand total : $3 trillion.
Probably $1 trillion can be recovered from putinazi assets held in the west. The rest will have to be taken by a combination of methods which investigators, economists, forensic accountants, IT specialists, lawyers and bankers can advise on.

    • It could be all done easily enough, if only the willpower for it was available. Many billions could already have been taken away from the mafiosi and handed over to Ukraine.
