The U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations has adopted a resolution recognizing russia’s actions in Ukraine as genocide. This was reported on the website of the committee.
The document condemns russia “for committing acts of genocide against the people of Ukraine”, calls on the USA and allies to continue supporting the government of Ukraine and also invites U.S. President Joe Biden to impose sanctions under the Magnitsky Act against people involved in the genocide.
The resolution was introduced to the Senate back in July; its principal sponsors were Republican of Idaho Jim Risсh and Democrat of Maryland Ben Cardin.
As previously reported, the Office of the Prosecutor General recalled on the signs of genocide in russian missile strikes on the energy system of Ukraine on the eve of winter.
But not a terrorist state? Give me a break
Senate already passed one on declaration of ruZZia as a state sponsor of terror. I’ m not sure what the HOR did with it from there.
Thanks Bill. You are correct Since it’s only a resolution, probably went no where.
Yeah it would need veto proof majority to succeed. Perhaps next session.
