The information about the flooding of the main pumping station of the Kakhovsky Main Canal as a result of shelling by the Russians is confirmed.

As Kherson regional council deputy Serhii Khlan reported on Facebook , the Russian military does not allow specialists to enter the facility, so it is impossible to get complete data on the real state of the GTS.

“If we don’t start solving the problems now, the chain reaction will be the destruction of other objects of the channel,” Khlan said.

According to the local deputy, there is also no light at the station. The occupiers obviously just stole the generator.

The undermining of the HNS may leave the entire south without irrigation, and the Ivanivskyi and Henicheskyi districts of the Kherson region and part of the Zaporizhzhia region will remain without drinking water.

The Center for Journalistic Investigations clarifies that as a result of the shelling of the Kakhovsky Main Canal, the shutter shield for holding and draining water was blown up. This could have caused a blast wave that could have ruptured the chamber of one of the pumps.

On November 30, journalists reported on the violation of sealing at the affected object, the engine room was flooded with groundwater. The ventilation system, drainage pumps, all ten main pumping units (two of which together with electric motors), elevator shafts ended up in the water.

Without constant pumping of water from the Dnipro, concrete slabs along the entire canal bed can be destroyed by ice in winter. Therefore, the damage and flooding of the main pumping station, writes the Center, can lead to the gradual destruction of all objects of the main channel, which include 61 pumping stations and about 200 technical structures.

  1. The Orcs just can’t keep themselves from fouling their own nest. That south that would be left without irrigation also includes Crimea.
